Description

Why maybe you are? Fear not, I shall explain! Firstly, this is not a completed artwork, it was merely an exercise in head proportions and shading in general, because I was working on another piece for the past 5 hours, but I just kept hating it, and the anatomy was all off, so I decided, what better way to improve than to study, so here I have studied the human face. There'll be separate little things like this coming soon, like arms, bodies, feet, because I really need to improve, and I cannot learn new things if I only rely on my own perceptions of the human body.

This actually was a model from this magazine I had lying around, because I actually physically can't draw such a realistic face without a reference. Seeing as this image was done digitally, it is rather pixelated (my fault, I zoomed in too much when I started), and the original image was not traced at all, rather I held it up beside the computer as I drew. I don't know why this particular colour scheme, I guess I used purple as a base, and then decided to throw a complementary yellow in the palette!

The original picture I drew from was very small, the model's face was like 3 cm's large, so I have learned my lesson, and shall draw from larger images next time- I just liked her pose.

Hopefully one day I'll be able to draw like this WITHOUT references, but for now this is a learning experience! Also, this took me 2 and a half hours to complete, using Paint tool sai!

Alrighty, off to do something useful which does not involve laying about on my computer!

Also, should I make speedpaints??? I was going to ut then forgot to record... aahha...

This is fantastic! It's amazing that you're practising things like this so much too, very inspiring. And I think the colours work great together :)
